A special general meeting of the Wellington Amateur Athletic Club was held at the Star Hotel last night. There was a large attendance of members, and Mr. H. Pollen occupied the chair. The principal business was the election of office-bearers for the ensuing year and the revision of the club’s rules. The election resulted in all the former office-bearers being re-elected without opposition. Mr. Berry, the secretary, was presented by the committee with a gold pencil-case iu recognition of the indefatigable services which he rendered at the late sports. The pencil-ease had a suitable inscription on it, and was presented by Mr. Davy. After considerable discussion it was arranged that a fifty-guinea gold challenge cup should bo offered for competition at the club’s next sports; the distances to be from 100 yards up to 4 miles. Tho onp has to be won by tho same person three years iu succession. A vote of thanks to the chairman terminated the Challengs cups that have to bo won many times in succession are gone greatly out of favor England of late years, and in order to get the lists for such competitions to fill it is well to present a complimentary medal to the holder of challenge trophy, as an inalienable tokenfof lus prowess upon one memorable occasion.
