This company has been formed for the purpose of “exploiting” in an adequate and remunerative manner the varied and manifold attainments of the Right Honorable William Ewart Gladstone, M.P., so long the acknowledged head of English liberal thought, culture, and conviction. The mode hitherto in vogue of syndicating vast industrial enterprises, before submitting them to the intelligent judgment of a confiding public, having been completely exploded by the investigations of the “ Foreign Loans Committee,” and by the recent examinations so soarchingly conducted by H.M. Government into the procedure and methods of the Stock Exchange, it has been felt that the time has now come when a real well-considered and bona fide investment may be expected to com mend itself immediately and unreservedly to the patent and long-suffering, yet discriminating, British capitalist. A contract has been entered into with the Bight Hon. W. E, Gladstone, M.P., for the purpose of taking over himself, with all his accomplishments, faculties, acquisitions, attainments, achievements, reputation, impulses, articles of vertu, earnestness, convictions, and good-will, in consideration of an annual payment, for his use and behoof, to the board of. trustees of a sum not exceeding twenty thousand pounds in sterling money of Great Britain and Ireland, for which sum this company will enjoy an exclusive and absolute lease of tho Right Hon. W. E. Gladstone, M.P., with all his attributes and appurtenances as hereinbefore mentioned, for a term of thirty-three years, engaging itself only during the said term to keep the said Right Hon. W. E. Gladstone, M.P., with all his above-mentioned attributes and appurtenances, in good workin g order and condition. Tho services of the eminent exhibitors of natural and supernatural phenomena. Messrs. Maskelyne aud Cooke, as managing directors of this enterprise, havo been secured ; as it has b.eeq felt that their skill in dealing with tho subtle, occult, real, and unreal forces in nature specially qualify them for the task of manipulating tho right hon. gentleman. It is obvious that Mr. Gladstone’s remarkable positive and negative qualities will be turned, by their great experience, to the moat profitable account. Investors will at once recognise the exceptional qualifications which are possessed by the eminent writer who has kindly consented to undertake tho arduous task of directing the literary efforts of the right hon. gentleman. A vast and remunerative field has been thrown open by tho introduction of the influential committee of foreign directors, who are In a position to recommend from personal knowledge sho services of tho right hon. gentleman to any country where spontaneous and extemporaneous patriotism is required, where popular sympathies havo to be suddenly aud unexpectedly aroused, and where the claims of suffering humanity have to be advocated. Every eect aud religious denomination in all countries will thus be able to secure tho cervices of Mr. Gladstone as a champion, in accordance with tho scale of charges fixed by tho company. An idea of the very large return to bo obtained on the capital invested may be formed from tho following rough calculation, which by no means exhausts all tho sources of profits. The expenses per annum will be Sum payable to trustees ...£20,000 Personal maintenance of tho right hon. gentleman ~ 3,000 Offices, fees, secretary's salary, postages, &o.«. 3.000 £20,000 Tho income will bo derived from the following amongst other sources Sensation Articles, for reviews, English or foreign, one per week at £SO tho article .. £3,000 Postcards and Autographs.— lt is propqsed tp guarantee to every person asking for a definite opinion on any subject whatever, and forwarding Is in stamps, a postcard in return signed by Mr. Gladstone; and on forwarding 2s worth of stamp* a postcard written throughout by tho right hon. gentleman. Mr. Gladstone having strongly torznsa opinions on all subjects aud coua-

tries, whether he be acquainted with them or not, a most valuable oppor unity is thus offered to all those who lack force of conviction of supplementing heir own deficiency, and, in addition, of acquiring in the postcard a valuable heirloom, likely to become more precious as time rolls on. 25 cards (signed only) per diem at Is each, ami taking 301) working days in the year .. ~ 375 25 cmU at 2s per diem 750 SpEEciFES.--One public speech a week on any topic, at £IOO a speech 5,200 During the parliamentary recess the company propose to incite the leading members of 'ho Government to make persn >nl attacks on the right hon- gentleman. It is needless to say that forcible replies of Mr. Gladstone, whether launched in writing or viva voce, will always command a vnry high price. Estimated revenue from these sources, say .. 5,000 Theological Attendances, per Sunday, £SO 2,000 Classical Labors, translations, and miscellaneous literary efforts, roughly .. 1,000 Chips. —ln order to provide for healthy recreation Mr. Gladstone will bo invited to fell an average-sized tree per diem According to the returns which the company have been enabled to obtain through the courtesy of her Majesty’s Ranger, an average tree w ll fall at 400 blows and yield about 400 chips. These chips it is proposed to brand with the words ’* A Gladstone Chip” on one side, and with the seal of the company and the date on the other, and sellas relics for 2d apiece 1,000 Old China. —Mr. Gladstone’s collection of eld china having been leased, together with himself, by the company for a period of thirty-three years, the company proposes lo re-let the various objects of vertu at a halfpenny a dav each. As they will always be lo f , they will produce not less than .. .. 100 Presentation Days.— lt Is also proposed to present Mr. Gladstone once a w-s -k publicly, at a previously advertised time and place, with a cheap article, such as a stick or an axo. on which occasion Mr. Gladstone will make a speech. The article to bo presented can be supplied by any Ann of enterprising tradesmen, and will be mentioned as c mlng from them on payment by them to the company of a fee of £IOO 5,200 The public will bo admitted to witness the presentation and listen to the speech of the right hon. gentleman on payment of Is. entrance. It is safe to say that the attendance will always number at least 10,000 persons,. 20,000 The total income from these various sources will amount to £49,725, which will leave, after deduction of paid-outs, a net income of £23,725. This will be applied as follows : 20 per cent, dividend on the preferred shares, the rest providing a sinking fund and interest on the deferred shares. The company propose at once to open negotiations with the Marquis of Hartington for the purpose of obtaining his resignation as leader of the Liberal party. It is manifest that this would be followed by an application on the part of that distracted section of the House of Commons for permission from the leaseholders of Mr. Gladstone to reinstate the right hon. gentleman as their leader, a position which the company would only permit him to occupy on the payment by his followers of a very large annual sum. The company would at the same time cordially co-operate with the Liberal party in their efforts to turn out the present Government at the approaching general election and restore Mr. Gladstone to that position from which he was so unjustly and unexpectedly hurled—of Prime Minister of this still great country. Should the?e efforts be successful, it is scarcely necessary to point out to investors that gigantic profits would be realised by simultaneously taking advantage of the immediate downward tendency of Home Securities and corresponding rise of Foreign Stocks as soon as the grand policy, which the right hon. gentleman is so eminently qualified to carry out, of reducing this country to the position of Venice, Genoa, and Holland, shall have been inaugurated. Applications for shares will be received, for one week only, by the hankers and the paid secretary of the company.
