; Sydney, Thursday. The Government proposals for railway extension comprise 1112 miles. They will be submitted to the Assembly on December 12th. The Chamber of Commerce at a meeting condemned the actions of the men on strike. The company’s engineers refuse to join the seamen. Efforts at mediation have again failed. A meeting of shareholders will be held to-morrow to consider the position. The Government have intimated their willingness, provided Parliament approved, to assume control of the Exhibition should the Agricultural Society find the Exhibition assume proportions beyond its power to manage.
