HUTT COUNTY ELECTIONS.

These elections, which came off on Wednesday,excited a greatdeal of attention throughout' the'"county,and the results are very remarkable, the whole of the old Council having been returned again, and by sensible majorities over their opponents. Dick .. ..82 D. Sinclair 18 Powrua,—Two members. J. Taylor 215 J. Chew .. ~ ~ .. HO J. Wbitobonso 70 . Horokiwi.—One member. ,31. Smith 49 J. Pearce 44 Munoaaoa*—One member. E. Morgan (unopposed). A little difficulty has arisen through the names of the. candidates not having been o* printed in alphabetical order on the ballot papers, but it is scarcely likely that it will affect the matter, because as the majorities are so pronounced, it would not be worth while tho defeated candidates attempting to set aside the election; and it is doubtful whether a Resident Magistrate would consider the slip an irregularity sufficiently important to invalidate the election. However, legal advice is being had on the question.
