SUICIDE ON BOARD THE WAIROA.

We heard last uitjlifc that a man named David Hart had committed suicide by cutting his throat. The deceased was a sailor on board theWairoa, and was last seen alive at 8.30 p.m. He then said he would go to bed, and retired into his berth. At 10 .o’clock the man on the watch went down the fore-cabin and found his shipmate lying dead and nearly cold in his bed. The sergeant of police was at once sent for, and the body was conveyed to the Morgue. It appears that the man was suffering from-the effects of drink, and made use of his sheath-knife for the purpose o! self-destruc-tion. An inquest will be held. -
