RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Saturday, Octobek 26. (Before T. A. Manstord, Esq., 8.M.) VAGRANCY. Christina Wilson, an old offender, was charged with vagrancy, and sentenced to three months’ imprisonment, with hard labor. BREACH OP CUSTOMS REGULATIONS. Joseph Stennett was charged by Mr. MclCellar, Collector of Customs, with committing a breach of the Customs Act by attempting to convey a quantity of tobacco from off the steamer Eingarooma. _ On the application of Mr. Mcßeilar, the case was postponed until Tuesday. Defendant was admitted to bail, himself m £IOO and two sureties of £SO each. BROACHING CARGO. ' * Antonio Andwine, a seaman on board the Cragie Lea, was charged by the master of tlio ship with broaching cargo. The master stated that on the 10th May last, before putting into Freemantlit was reported to him that the cargo had been broken into. He called the hands aft and they acknowledged that they had broken the bulkhead down and broached cargo. The bulkhead was fastened up, and . two or three days after more pilfering took place. On arriving at Tree-
njantlo one man was charged with the offence, and was sentenced to seventy days imprison-, ment. .During the .passage across here more pilfering tools place. _' , , The case was remanded until Tuesday, for the production of more evidence. . LUNACY. John Schnud,l, a lunatic, was sent to the Asylum.
