THE SYNOD.

TO THE EDITOR OF THE NEW ZEALAND TIMES. Sm, —I hope you will give me room to answer a “Member of the Synod,” and to make my apologies for a number of small inaccuracies which have been discovered in my letter of a few days ago ; but really, apart from the very great fault of not being correct, I do not think they are of much importance. After all, my great question remains unanswered—Bid or did nob our lately departed Synod exert itself to remedy a great and pressing want ? Bid it in any way endeavor to obtain a supply of young men for the ministry ? Having made some inquiry, the only thing I can find that was done was, not exactly to put off the matter, as is doue in a House not far off, until that day six months, but simply to request our Bishop to bring the subject before the next general Synod, which, risum tcncatis, does not meet for another two years! And all this while, though we can do nothing, young men in two dioceses of the colony that I know of are being sought out, educated, and prepared for the ministry. I am only a poor working man, but I will yield to no one in my attachment and devotion to the Church in which I was brought up; neither can I allow anyone, because I try to arouse people to a little godly.activity and raise tbeir interest on an important subject, to put me down as its enemy, or even opponent. e I will conclude by reminding an ecclesiastical body that other persons may some day come forward less particular than I am, who may boldly and plainly upbraid them with having neglected their duty.—l am, &c., D.B. Johnsonville, October 2G.
