Tho ketch Huon Belle was launched from Messrs. ' Coffey’s slip yesterday. She has undergone s thorough repair. The schooner Esther was taken on during the afternoon for repairs. . , ~ Tho cutter Hero was sold at auction by Mr. Thomas yesterday for £350. Mr. Rail was the purchaser. CLEARANCE OF THE NEW ZEALAND SHIPPING CO.’S WAIMATE. (From the Lyttelton Tint ?.?, October 19.) This splendid ship cleared the Customs on Saturday, and was towed into tho stream. by the p.s. ' Titan, ready for sea. The Waimate was therefore ready at her appointed date, but was unavoidably detained till to-day through having to wait for passengers from the North, who did not arriv-i till yesterday afternoon in the s.s. Ladybird. The w tlc done on board the Waimate is a credit to Lyttelton. In eighteen working days 1800 tons of inward cargo have been landed, and the ship has taken in 1750 tons of Canterbury produce for the Homo market. The working of such a large cargo in sinh a short space of time not only shows the capital appliances Lyttelton possesses, but also tho great energy of the officers of the company and those they employ. Besides her large cargo, the Wairaato takes eighteen passenger* She is in splendid trim for her pimge Home, and will sail this morning without fail, as should the wind not serve she will be tosved clear of the Heads. The Underwriters' As-ociatioa report under date London, October 12:—The Lorraine, barque,, from Auckland, collided with the Prius Carl, a German barque, in the Thames. She has. not received any serious injury. The cargo appears undamaged.
