Wellington, October 22. [Copt. 3 Press Telegraph Agency, Wellington, October 14, 1878. Sir, —As we find that the-concession allowed by Government of a special wire for Press messages to Auckland and certain stations South has proved a great convenience to tho leading newspapers, we have the honor to solicit that this arrangement may be continued after the prorogation of Parliament. We are prepared to make such reasonable weekly payment (in advance if required) as you may name for tho use of a special wire for Presis messages to all stations between Auckland and Invercargill (at which are published tho leading morning journals) after the ordinary office h airs, say from 8 p in. to 10 p.m., or midnight, *r such other hours as you may appoint. We are sure this will be a great boon to tho Press of the colony,—it will, wo think, prove a relief to your own departmental work ; and we shall therefore bo glad if you will recommend it to the favorable consideration of the lion, the Commissioner.—Wo have, &c., (Signed) Holt and McCarthy. The General Manager, Telegraph Department.
