/REUTER'S SPECIAL TO PRESS AGENCYJ AUSTRALIAN NEWS. Melbouene, Thursday. The betting on the Cup continues very dull. Eight to one is wanted for Melita ; there is no alteration in the status of the others. Woodlands has gone wrong, and is scratched. The Loan and Mercantile Agency Company report under date London, October 12 : —The wool sales closed flatly on the 4th inst. at a decline of Id. to IJd., and comprised 246,000 bales. 60,000 bales have been held over, and 125,000 bales have been taken for export. The Continental demand is poor. The principal decline is in medium and interior washed cross-breds. Tallow is dull of sale—beet,' 365, 6d; mutton, 38s. The wheat market is quiet— Adelaide, 505.; New Zealand, 445. per quarter. The leather market is flat—beat sides, 9d. Sydney, Wednesday. The Colonial Secretary has given notice of motion in the Assembly for a grant of ten thousand pounds towards the International Exhibition.
