Auctions 1 * FRIDAY, 25th OCTOBER. MASTERTON TOWN AND SUBURBAN LANDS. MB. B. J. DUNCAN is favored with instructions from B. and _J. Brown, of Maaterton, to sell by public auction at ma salerooms, Panama-street, Wellington, on Friday, 25th October, 1878— The Valuable FREEHOLD PROPERTIES of J. W. Lang, Esq., consisting of, 1, Twenty-one BUILDING ALLOTMENTS in a central position in the Town of Masterton, being subdivisions of section No. 7, each having a frontage to a chain road, and being five minutes’ walk from the Club Hotel. These sections are all first-class sites for building purposes, and are continually increasing in value. The opportunity of securing them will soon be gone, as the demand is so great, and the Auctioneer desires to impress upon all who wish to secure allotment in this favorite and rapidly-pro gressing borough to take advantage of the chance now offered. 3. After the above, will he offered the valuable property known as tho FERNDOWNS ESTATE, subdivided into forty sections of from five to thirty acres each, situate on the Upper Plaimroad, about two miles from tho site of the railway station. The Upper Plain-road runs right through this property to the various farms on the beautiful plains, extending right to the base of the hills. There are numerous houses around the estate, and close by is a large saw-mill in full operation. The situation of the property is unequalled, and it commands qn excellent view of Masterton and surrounding country, being at the sametime perfectly level, with the exceptioii of a small ridge iu tho bush. The land immediately adjoining is under cultivation, aud yields good crops. This is a splendid investment, and one in which gentlemen having trust money to invest cannot do better than take some of these sections. The Auctioneer can confidently affirm that no land in the district of Masterton which has yet been put in the market presents so many advantages to the purchaser as this. Lithographed plans will be ready in a few days for distribution. Terms—Quarter cash, and the balance by bills extending over a period of eighteen months. SATURDAY, 26th OCTOBER. TOWN HALL, MABTON. CENTRAL SECTIONS IN THE TOWNS OF MABTON, HALCOMBS, FEILDING, AND PALMERSTON. HARRIS BROTHERS have received instructions to sell by public auction, at the Town Hall, Marton, as above, without any reserve, the following sections in the above towns— MARTON. Block 18.—Sections 71 and 72, Oxford-street; sections A, B, C, D, E, F, G, H, I, .T, and K, having frontages to Broadway, Bond, Hair, and Lambert streets. Section G contains a well-finished six-roomed house, in addition to pantry and; washhouse, good stable, and outhouse. The house is built of the best material, and has many fixture conveniences, including a 400-gallon tank. Section H contains a well-finished tworoomed house, with passage and porch, and 400-gallon tank. Section 1C has a well-finished four-roomed house thereon. Section 124, comer of Breadway and Bond sheets, with well - finished six • roomed house thereon. All the above houses are let to good tenants. Section 17, and parts of 15 and 16, Signal-street, are beautifully situate, and planted with shrubs, fruit, and ornamental trees. There is a glasshouse erected thereon, used as a photographer’s studio, and a 4000-gallon brick tank. Comer section 103, Oxford and Signal streets. . Also 104, containing good four-roomed house 27 x 20, with passage and washhouse. This is a nice property, and in first-class order. Block 17.—Sections 93, 94, 95, 96, 97, 98, 99, 100, 101, 102, 103, 104, 105, 106, 107, 108, 109, 110, and 111, having frontages to Pukepapa-road and Grey-street. All these sections ate beautifully situate on rising ground, and were specially selected by the owner some years ago as the pick of the town. Leasehold sections 7 and 13, Broadway, having 16 years to run at a small yearly rental. Section 13 contains a shop and two-roomed house, and is well situate for doing a retail business. Sections 39, 46, 49, 57, and 58, Bowen aud Follett streets, 43, 43a, 52, and 52a, Stewart-street, and 53, Follett-street, with well-built and thoroughly finished four-roomed house theron. The rooms are large and lofty. There is also a 5000gallon brick tank and other improvements. Block 16.—Sections 10 and 12, High-street, each 100 links frontage. Block 15.—Sections 54, 54a, 58, 58a, 56, 57, 22, 23, 51, 51a, 51b, 52, 52a, 52b. Note.— it is unnecessary for the auctioneers to do more than refer to their last sale as a proof of the demand for property in Marton, It is admitted by all who have visited the town that it is the finest on the West Coast, and that its position will make it the Masterton of the coa t. The increase iu trade since tho railway opened is marvellous, aud though only six months have passed since it was opened, the returns show it to be the third best paying line on this island. Two banks are represented, and the Colonial Bank have lately purchased with the object, no doubt, of opening shortly. The main road to the Parekaretu and Murimotu via Hunterville is now being pushed on, and will bring the whole of that valuable tract of country into direct communication with Marton within a short time. HALCOMBS. Sections 587, 587 a, 587 b, 587 c, 588, 588 a, 588 b, 5880, 589, 589 a, 589 b, 589 c, 590, 590 a, 590 b, 590 c, 591, 591 a, 591b, '[5910. 50 links of frontage on each side of tho railway line is set apart for a road line, which gives these sections a good frontage. They are also quite close to the station, and splendidly situate. Sections 624, 624 a, 624 b, 624 c, 625, 625 a, 625 b, 625 c, 625 d. These sections are on the main line of ’road (two chains wide), which runs through the centre of the town, and would make splendid sites for hotels or stores. Sections 423 and 424 arc well situate in tho centre of the business part of the town, and have a frontage of a good metalled street. Noth. — The prosperity of Halcombe is now beyond a doubt. It is surrounded by a large population of small farm settlers. There are three sawmills, and timber is now being shipped to Wanganui, Foxton, and intermediate stations in large quantities. It is also the junction and the only feeding station on the line. Halcombe presents a first-class field for investment. _As will be seen from the plans, all the sections offered are iu the very heart of the town. FEILDING, Acre section 352 with well-finished fourroomed house and outbuildings. The section is central, has a largo frontage to C'amden-street, and is now under cultivation. Half the purchase money may remain on mortgage. PALMERSTON, Section 881, containing one acre and a quarter, in the very heart of the town, with house thereon. Flans of Marton and Halcombe may be seen at all the principal merchants, storekeepers, and hotels in Wellington and Wanganui; also, at the offices of all the auctioneers. Arrangements have been made whereby conveyances will bo made out at a minimum price, and no additional chatge where more than one section is included in the same conveyance. The Auctioneers will bo happy to give all information required respecting the sections advertised. Terms very easy. One-third cash ; balance by bills at 6 and 12 months, with 8 per cent, only added.
