There are at present three cases under treatment, none of. which however are serious. Four deaths and eight births occurred on the voyage, the deaths being three of infanta and one adult from phthisis. The Waitangi left Plymouth on July 18, crossed the line on August 27, meridian of th-’ Cape on September 5, made the Snares on October 0. and arrived last evening. The chief characteristic of the voyage was the very variable nature of the winds, and the extreme west weather in the Southern Ocean. ~ TIMARXT. Monday. The steamer Taupo left yesterday afternoon for the South, The Young Dick came into the wharf yesterday, andcommences discharging her coals to-day. The.staamer Charles Edward, from Wanganui, arrived h're at 11 a ra. yesterday. She left Nelson at 7 p.ra. on Saturday, and arrived at Wanganui at 11.30 a,m. Sunday ; sailed again at 10.30 the same night, and arrived hero as above. The sch oner Ruby left Kaikoara on Saturday evening,’ and arrived here at 0 o’clock yesterday morning The steamer Jane Douglas for Fox’on, and Manawatu for Wanganui, loft last night. Thcschooner Hannah Barratt arrived from Lyt‘clton yesterday morning, after a passage of five days. She experienced strong N.W. winds and adverse weather. The Wanaka Is due here to-day from. tho-Soulb, and sails agiin for Auckland, via. the Bast Coast, tomorrow. The ship Rakia broke bulk yesterday afternoon. It is expected she will have hold by Saturday. The steamer Napier left at midnight for Blenheim. The steamer Arawata, with the Suez mail, will arrive in WelllngtOELtbrmorrow morning. The Otago Daily Times says that the second officer of theaj. Tararuamet with a severe accident on Thursday morning. While engaged in discharging cargo in the main hold, a sling of sheet iron slipped and struck him on the forehead, inflicting two incised wounds of about two inches long. He was promptly attended by Dr. Drysdale, who dressed the wounds, and expressed his opinion that Mr. Thomson would be flt for duty In about ten days. The steamer Wakatipu, from Sydney, arrived at tb 4 wharf at 830 last night. She left Smith’s wharf at, g p.m. on Wednesday, and experienced flue weati jer with a strong fair wind. Cape Farewell was sig l fl ted yesterday morning, and she arrived as above. The wakatipu leaves for the South to-day.
