Tiie import trade during the past week has been dull, and exhibits no change in quotations. Bottled ales and stouts are In active demand for good brands at lls to 12s Cd per dozen; sperm candles dull and overstocked at 0d to 9RI per lb; dried fruits—full stocks ex recent arrivals, with steady demand at, for currants to raisins s}d to 6d per lb; Adelaide flour is low in stock, and holders ask £l6 10s to £l7 per ton. Spirits remain at former quotations, with littloif any change. Stocks are heavy; but there is no possibility of forcing sales, which are confined to current wants of the retail trade. Brandies are quoted at 10s to 10s 3d for Martell's and Hennessy's quarters, cases 33s to 34s per dozen ; other brands in little request. Sugars are still quoted at last week's rates, which do not leave much profit to the seller. In colonial produce butter, bacon, hams, and cheese remain unaltered, prime cured butter being in rather improved demand. Colonial flour continues low, and shows no prospect of higher rates, Oamaru and Canterbury mills being quoted at £ll per ton for guaranteed quality. Oats are in full supply, with steady demand, which tends to keep np prices ; we quote best feeding sorts 4s (id to 4s 8d per bushel. Wheat, for fowls, 4s 3d : bran, Is Gd ; pollard, £7 to £7 Ts per ton ; pota« oes, 78* to 80s per ton for wholesale lots; fat cattle, 25s to 27s Cd per lOOlbs ; fat sheep, Ss to lls, shorn ; tallow, £3l to £32 per ton.

Mr. Buckland reports Fat cattle, 25s to 32s per hundred pounds ; fat sheep, in wool, 3£d; shorn, 2£d; fat lambs, 4s to 7s. Mr. Binney reports business steady up to average, although the flour market still continues in an unsatisfactory state : little disposition is shown to purchase. Reports from foreign markets are showing a drooping tendency, whilst our own is decidedly overstocked- Leading brands show no alteration. The price is from £ll to £ll l-.g, but largo quantities of outside brands are offering at £lO. The demand for wheat is dull at 4s Gd; light oats are selling at 4s Gd to 4s Od ; heavy, 5s ; maize, scarce, good samples are worth 4s Dd ; oatmeal and pearl barley show no a'teratlon ; butter.
