Scoured is now at Is. 4d. to Is. 7d.; fleece, washed, Is. to la. 2d.; greasy, 5Jd. to 6Jd. Large shipments have been made from Port Elizabeth. Hides are depressed, 2Jd. to Bid. being the average; while skins have lately bad a hardening tendency. Good mohair is in demand at Is. Bd. to Is. 9Jd ; mixed and middling, Is. 2d. ; to Is. 4Ad. The Sunbeam, which left here on the 6th July for Lyttelton, took 500 boxes raisins. The market for this and other, dried fruits is high, good samples being scarce. Raisins are , now bringing 4d. per lb.; apricots, 10 Jd to lid.; and peaches, Is. Wheat is quoted at 275. to 28s. 6d. per 2001 b., and flour 19s. to 20a. per 1001 b. Generally trade has improved, and _ money remains plentiful • , The rebellion on the northern frontier has been crushed, and one of the leading chiefs adjudged to pay a heavy fine for the murder of Mr. Thompson by members of his tribe. Several of the chiefs concerned in tho frontier, war have been tried upon charges of sedition and high treason. Two, GongobeUa and Tini Maocomo, have been sentenced to death.
