THE WESLEYAN BAZAAR.
The bazaar in aid of the building fund cf the proposed new Sunday-school, in connection with the .Wesleyan Methodist Church at Thorndon, was opened in the large hall of the Athenaeum yesterday by the Rev. A, Reid. There was a very large attendance both in the afternoon and evening. The ladies who officiated at the stalls were Mesdames Watt, Cleland, H. Barber, Jackson, Le vis, Reid, Briscoe, Stafford, Williams, J. Barber, Elliott, ICui'ht, and Clarke, and Misses Bennett, Webb, Bradford, Kinniburgh, and others. The ball presented a very attractive appearance, the number of useful and elegant articles exposed for sale was very large, aud great taste was displayed in the ** dressing ” of the stalls so as to show off the wares to the best advantage. The display of flowers for the time of the year was also remarkably good, and the refreshment stall was well supplied with light viands suitable to the occasion. To day the bazaar will reopen in the afternoon from two to half-past five o’clock, and in the evening from seven until ten o’clock, when as large an attendance may be expected as there was yesterday, aud there can be little doubt that the result will be such as to give a substantial addition to the building fund of the proposed new Sunday-school.
