RIFLE SHOOTING.
The rifle match between the Artillery and City Rifles was fired on Saturday at the Polhill Gully range. The weather was anything but favorable for shooting, but, notwithstanding, some finescoriogwas made, that of W. Ballinger, for the City Rifles, being highest with 74 out of a possible 81. The Artillery were beaten by 91 points, which they attribute to the difference in the weapons used, —the Artillery firing with a lot of slop-made carbines, the City Rifles with rifles of the very best Imperial make.
