Carlyle is the County Town of tho Patea County, and is situated on the banka of the Patea liivor, the outlet for Patea District—a district second to none in New Zealand. Direct communication with Wellington will shortly be accomplished by means of a steamer now being built by Mr. E. W. Mills.
