The following vessels were in harbor last night : Steamers—lllnonioa, Wellington, Charles Edward, Alhambra. Jane Douglas, and Pc'.orus: ships—Aboona and Eodandia : barqnes—Courier. Chasca. The ste imer Luna, from Greymonth, arrived at the wharf early on Saturday morning, and left again during the night, The steamer Tul, from Foaton, arrived at the wharf at fi o’clock on Sttucday morning. She left again for Lyttelton and Knlkonra during the nigh*. 'Messrs. McMeckan and Blackwood's steamer Tararua arrived here at 9 o'clock on Saturday from Melbourne via Hobarton and the South. She left Melbourne on the 4th at li a.m.. and arrived at Hobarton at 8.39 a.m on the Bth, leaving there at 7 p.m. same day ; had floe weather nnt 1 the 9th, then Klron- head winds and heavy sea until passing the Solanders ntSp.ni. on the 10th. when she steamed slowly until arriving at the Bluff a*- C a.m. on the 11th. She sailed at 5 p.m. for Dunedin, and arrived in Pott Chalmers at 0 n.m. on the 12th ; left again at 5 p.m. same day, and arrived at Lyttelton wharf at 11 a m. on the 13th ; left same day at 4 p.m.. arriving in Wellington ns above. Experienced fine weather throughout the passage along.the coast. She left for Melbourne via the West Coast during the evening. Tiie Charles E Iward left Nelson at 11.30 on Friday night, but owing to a Illicit fog was detained,at Chetwood for two hoars. Fresh N.W. winds were experienced in the Strait, and she arrived here at one o'clock on Saturday. Sh: returns to Nelson via the West U »ast to-day. The steamer Msnawatn, from Wanganui, arrived at the wharf on Saturday forenoon. She left .Wanganui at 11 o'clock on Friday night, and experienced fine weather along the coast. The Union Company's steamer Eotoma. from the Smth. arrived hero shortly after midday on Saturday. She left Port Chalmers at 4 p.m. on the 12th, and arrived at Lyttelton at S 30 a.m. on the 13th ; sailed at 7-10 p m. same day, and arrived in Wellington as above. Had light westerly winds and thick weather from Fort C'h-alracra to Lyttelton, and thence to arrival strong north-west winds. She sailed again during the afternoon for Sydney viaNapierand Auckland. Tiie steamer Wellington arrived here at 1.30 a m. yesterday. Sha loft Nelson at 9?0 a.m, on Saturday, and arrived at Picton at 0.30 p.m.; left again an honr afterwards, and arrived here as above. Fine weather was experienced throughout the trip. The steamer Alhambra left Melbourne oh S ptemher 5 at 3 p.m : arrived at Hokitika on the 11th at 10 p.m ; left again on the 12th at 7 p.m., and arrived at Greymouth at 9 p.m.: left at 11 p m., and arrived at Notion on the 13th at 10 p.m,: left again on the 14th at 10 p.m., ami arrived In Wellington yesterday morning. Experienced strong head winds and heavy seas until arrival at Hokitika, thence light variables and thick weather to arrival We thank the purser for report and files. All the vessels in harbor yesterday had their flags half-mast high out of respect to Mr. Williamson, who died yesterday morning. Deceased held the position of wharf tallyer for sometime, and was greatly respected. The steamer Napier crossed the Wairau bar yesterday morning at 10 o’clock, and arrived l.i port at 3 in the afternoon. She leaves for Blenheim at 10 tonlght. .... The City of Sydney left San Franclico on the 2nd instant (contract time) with mails for New Zealand. Tne steamsidp Australia, having left Auckland on the 20th August, arrived at 'Frisco on the 11th September, one day before contract date.
