Fiji, and Sydney, She then goes Horae, and is to bo relieved on the station by the Emerald. The Hinemoa leaves to-day for Lyttelton, to fetch his Excellency the Governor and suite. The steamer Wellington, from Nelson and Picton, l»due hero early this morning. The Rangatira Laves this afternoon for Napier and Poverty Bay. The sailing of the steamers Kiwi (for the East Coast) and Stormbird (for Wanganui) has been postponed until to-day. The Mjvnwatu. from Wanganui, Is expected here to-day. She was bar-bound all Monday. The steamer Hawea left yesterday afternoon for the Sonth The Government steuaer Hinemoa and the steamer Taupo both arrived in barber yesterday, bringing back the members of the Government and the excursionists. The latter left Lyttelton quarter of an hour before the former, which started at 11.45 on Monday night, and considerable interest was taken on board as to the respective sp cd of the two boats. The weather as far as Kalkoura was fine, with light southerly breeze; from thence a strong south-west gale, with a nasty cross sea in the Strait. The Hineraoa gradually drew on her opponent, and passed her four miles outside the Heads, arriving hero at halfpast 2 yesterday 'ifternoon, thus making the quickest passage from Lyttelton ,ou record. The Tauno had 600 tons of cargo on board, mostly grain. She also labored under the disadvantage of burning Bay of Islands coal, which is stated to make a difference of a knot an hour. Taking all these thin. r s into consideration, the difference ia the time of the two boats was not much. The steamer Easby left Fort Chalmers on the Sfch instant at 11 a m., with thick weather and south-east winds to Banks Peninsula, and from thenca to Lyttelton south-west weather and high seas, aniving there at S o’clock the following morning; left again the same day at 2.39 p.m.. with strong south-west winds and dirty weather, arriving here at 6 o’clock yesterday momlnv. She leaves for Sydney to-day. From the Axulmlian and American Home Neivs, published at New York, we note that anew line of ves els. called Peabody’s Australian Line, has been formed at Boston, for the purpose of trading to these colonies. The Al dipper brig Helen Holmes is on Hie berth for Dunedin and Lyttelton, and was to sail early in August.
