' « Monday, September 9. (Before T. A. Mamford, Esq., 8.M.) * Hugh-Dunlop was charged on the information of Kichard Webb with assaulting Lira on Saturday night. From tho evidence it appeared that the complainant was endeavoring to turn a man out of tho Commercial Hotel oa Saturday night, 'when the defendant interfered aud struck him. The prisoner was then charged with assaulting Constable Chribtie. i'roio. tho evidence of the constable it was sbqwa that the' prisoner w»3 very violent. The constable called for help from a number of persons who were looking ou, but could obtain no assistance. Front the pvidenco of Sergeant Smith it appeared"that ho went to the Melbourne Hotel, iu Willw-btreet, shortly before 1 o'clock on Sunday morning, aud fo.md a, lot of men under the influence of liquor and 'quarre lint;. He ordered them out. Prisoner was vijlent and et'raoTc Viml"" Sergeant 'O'Connor corroborated the evi. cjenco of Sergeant Smith.
Sergeant Smith said, that .the hou<e was not ivelU.conducted,-and ho would shortly have to bring the matter before the Court. ■ . His Worship remarked that the police should lay an information against tha landlord of the house. ; ■ - ■

James Stevens,- William Grosveuor, John Anderson, F. Heaney, A. Pryke. and F. Moorey, articled seamen of the barque Whittington. were charged with wilful disobedience to lawful commands.
. Prisoners pleaded guilty. • Complainant deposed that while his vessel was anchored in Worser Bay the men. refused to weigh anchor on the ground fbat there was not the complement of hands on boarl. W itness showed them by the articles that the’full complement, viz., 38, were on board. His Worship said that according to the ship’s articles the complement o! seamen should bo 18 men all told, and before signing the men should have satisfied themselves that that number was sufficient. They were each ; sentenced to sev£n days’imprisonment, with hard labor. The master could take them out of gaol if he wished when ho was ready for sea, and if they then refused they would be liable to bo brought'up again. "civil cases. Judgments for the plaintiffs were given in the following cases McMillan vi Bepre, claim £6; S. Lancaster v. F. G. Harnett, claim £G ss. Bd. The following judgment summonses were then disposed of:—F. Simeon v. Matua : Henere, claim £1018?.; defendant was ordered to pay the amount on or before 9th October, or in default four weeks' -imprisonment A. Nelson v. M. Obery, claim £l6 12s. 3d.; defendant was ordered to pay the amount on or before the 14th September, or 'eight weeks’ imprisonment. A. Sample v. A. Hoskins, claim £2 75.; defendant was ordered to pay the amount on or before the 23rd September, or to be imprisoned for seven days. Hyams aud Co. v. A. McDonald, claim £l4 3?. 51; defendant was ordered to pay the amount by the 9th October, or in default six weeks’ imprisonment. J. and H. Barber v, samej claim £l9 3s. fid.; defendant was ordered to pay the amount claimed on or beforeUhe 9th October, or m default eighttweeks’ imprisonment.
