Alfred William Thomas was charged with stealing a watch ami chain from Thomas Walker, of the value of £5 The case was remanded until Monday for the production of important witnesses who are expected by the stea er Taranaki. ALLEGED FORGERY. A. H. McLean was charged on the information of W. Nicholson, with forging an agreement for the sale of a cabinetmaker’s business. The memorandum was handed to the prosecutor, who stated that the si. nature attached was in his own handwriting. Mr. Quick, who appeared for the prosecution, asked to wi hdraw the information, in order that a fresh one might be made out. His Worship discharged tljo p i 'finer, but declined to give a certificate of dismissal, which would prevent the case from being broil-ht on again. CIVIL CASES. P. Mclntyre v. A. McFarlane— claim £OS, for commission on the sale of the Victoria Hotel t a person named Thornbury. The price paid for the hotel was stated to l o £2500, and the plaintiff claimed commissi nat the rate of 2J per cent. The defence was that the purchase had never been completed. Mr. Fitzherbcrt appeared for the plaintiff, and Mr. Q-*ick for the defendant. His Worship, after hearing the arguments of counsel, reserved his judgment. Wellington Co-o»erative Society v. J. Roberts—claim £2 12s Od, judgment summons. Do f endant was ordered to pay 5s per week, or in default to bo Imprisoned for three weeks. R. Mirbach v. G. Atkinson—claim £3 Os Od, judgment summons. Defendant was ordered to pay the amount by the 20th September, or go to prison for fourteen davs. Judgment for the plaintiffs for the amounts churned claimed wore given in the following cases:—J.
