Notice is hereby given that the following By-law will be taken into consideration at a special meeting of ihe City Council, to be held after the ordinary meeting on Thursday, tlio 22nd August. By order. CHARLES C. GRAHAM, Town Cleric. Wellington, 14th August, IS7S. A By-law of the Council of the City of Wellington, made under the Municipal Corporations Act, 1870. In pursuance of the powers vested in them in this behalf, the Council of the City of Wei-. lington ordain as follows; X, In any case iu which any footway on either side of any street within the City of Wellington shall be constructed of asphalte, concrete, concrete flags, or any other permanent material, one half of the cost of construction shall be borne by the occupier of the land fronting thereon; but, nevertheless, so that such one half shall not exceed per foot for every foot in length u£ the frontage thereon of such land. 11. In case only one moiety of the whole breadth of any such footpath shall be so constructed, the proportion of cost to be borne by such occupier shall not exceed per foot instead of 111. For the purpose of this by-law the ' word “occupier” shall mean any person whoso interest shall exceed a term of years iu the land occupied by him, and shall mean the owner of the laud in case the interest of the actual occupier shall not exceed such term.
