Notice is hereby given that the following By-law will he taken into consideration at a special meeting of the City Council, to be held alter the ordinary meeting on Thursday, the 22nd August. In pursuance of the powers vested in them in this behalf, the Council of tho City of Wellington or-lain as follows: I. In auy case in which any footway on cither side of auy street within the City of Wellington shall be constructed of asphalte, concrete, concrete hags, or any other permanent material, one half of the cost of construction shall be borne by the occupier of the laud fronting thereon; but, nevertheless, so that such one half shall not exceed per foot for every foot in length of the frontage thereon of such land. 11. In case only one moiety of the whole • breadth of auy such footpath shall be so constructed, the proportion of cost to be borne by such occupier shall nob exceed per foot instead of 111. For the purpose of this by-law the word “ occupier ” shall mean any person whose interest shall exceed a term of years in the land occupied by him, and shall mean tho owner of the laud in case the interest of the actual occupier shall not exceed such term.
