To he Published on WEDNESDAYS and SATURDAYS, at the Office of the “Mercantile Gazette,” Dunedin. Price Cd. Yearly subscription (payment in advance) £1 10s. ; with postage, £1 12s. Gd. The first number will appear on SATURDAY, 10th AUGUST. This publication is established in order to meet the terms of a resolution passed by the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce on the Ist August, as follows :—“That notices of all bankruptcies be advertised in the 4 Mercantile Gazette’ of New Zealand, provided it become a public newspaper under the terms of the Newspaper Act.” The Chamber of Commerce having thus affirmed the expediency of establishing a. general Gazette in Bankruptcy, ia connection with the “ Mercantile Gazette,” the proprietor of that publication has resolved to establish a Gazette devoted entirely to the purpose,'to bo registered under the Newspapers Act, and published as an ordinary newspaper. Each Saturday number will contain, in addition to Gazette notices, an alphabetical list of Bankrupt?, an abstract of proceedings ia Bankruptcy, statements of liabilities and assets, reports of cases, notes on the law of Bankruptcy, and other matter of interest to business men. The Gazette will have the advantuge of being easily filed for reference, and at the same time forming a permanent record ; title page and index being furnished for each volume. Should the Legislature grant the prayer of the petition about to be presented by declaring the 44 Mercantile Gazette” a general Gazette in Bankruptcy, the present publication will necessarily contain all the Gazette notices in Bankruptcy. But should the Legislature not think fit to do . so, the 44 Bankruptcy Gazette” will nevertheless continue to appear as an indepeudeut publication, containing all the information iu bankruptcy matters that can bo obtained by means of agencies already established in the chief centres of commercial activity. The attention of solicitors is particularly directed to the 44 Bankruptcy Gazette," nob only as a source of information in daily business, but especially as a medium for the publication of Gazette notices. To reduce tho expense of advertising as much as possible, a uniform charge of 7*3. 6d. will be made for each notice—a charge considerably less than that of the daily papers. As the 44 Bankruptcy Gazette” will commence work on established circulation through the medium of tho 44 Mercantile Gazette,” and will certainly acquire a largo circulation of its own, it deserves tho attention of general advertisers, R. T. WHEELER, Stafford-street, Dunedin. LA GRANDE MARQUE BRANDY is now recognised as the purest and beat in tho market. JOSEPH NATHAN & 00.. Agents.
