BY-LAW FOR ENFORCING THE LAYING DOWN OF PAVEMENT* Notice is hereby given that the following By-law will be taken into consideration at a special meeting of the City Council, to be held after the ordinary meeting on Thursday, the 22nd August. By order. CHARLES C. GRAHAM, Town Clerk. Wellington, 14th August, 1878. A By-law of the Council of the City of Wellington, made under tho Municipal Corporations Act, 1876. In pursuance of tho powers vested in them in this behalf, the Council of tho City of Wellington ordain as follows: I. In any case in which any footway on cither side of any street within the City of Wellington shall bo constructed of asphalte, concrete, concrete Hags, or any other permanent material, ono half of the cost of construction shall bo borne by tho occupier of the land fronting thereon; but, nevertheless, so that such one half shall not exceed per foot for every foot iu length of the frontage thereon of such land. 11. In case only one moiety of tho whole breadth of any such footpath shall be so constructed, the proportion of cost to be borne by such occupier shall not exceed per foot instead of 111. For tho purpose of this by-law the word “occupier” shall mean any person whose interest shall exceed a term of years in the land occupied by him, and shall mean the owner of tho laud in case tho interest of tho actual occupier shall not exceed such term.
