Prospectus The bankruptcy gazette of NEW ZEALAND. To be Published on AVEONESOAYS aud SATURDAYS, at the Office of the u Mercantile Gazette,’' Dunedin, Price 6d. Yearly subscription (payment in advance) £1 10s. ; with postage, £1 12s. 6d. The first number will appear on SATURDAY, 10th AUGUST. This publication is established in order to meet the terms of a resolution passed by the Dunedin Chamber of Commerce on the Ist August, as follows :— *■ That notices of all bankruptcies be advertised in the ‘Mercantile Gazette’ of New Zealand, provided it become a public newspaper under the terms of the Newspaper Act.” The Chamber of Commerce having thus affirmed the expediency of establishing a general Gazette in Bankruptcy, iu connection with the “ Mercantile Gazette,” the proprietor of that publication has resolved to establish a Gazette devoted entirely to the purpose, to be registered under the Newspapers Act, and published as an ordinary newspaper. Each Saturday number will contain, in addition to Gazette notices, an alphabetical list of Bankrupts, an abstract of proceedings in Bankruptcy, statements of liabilities and assets, reports of cases, notes on the law of. Bankruptcy, and other matter of interest to business men. The Gazette will have the advantnge of being easily filed for reference, and at the same time forming a permanent record ; title page and index being furnished for each volume. Should the Legislature grant the prayer of the petition about to be presented by declaring the “ Mercantile Gazette” a general Gazette in Bankruptcy, the present publication will necessarily contain ail the Gazette notices iu Bankruptcy. But should the Legislature nob think fib to do so, the “ Bankruptcy Gazette” will nevertheless continue to appear as an iuj dependent publication, containing all the inforI mation in bankruptcy matters that can be obtained by means of agencies already established in the chief centres of commercial activity. The. attention of solicitors is particularly directed to the “ Bankruptcy Gazette,” not only as a source of information in daily business, but especially as a medium for the publication of Gazette notices. To reduce the expense of advertising as much as possible, a uniform charge of 7s. f>d. will be made for each notice—a charge considerably less than that of the daily papers. As the “ Bankruptcy Gazetto” will commence work on established circulation through the medium of the “ Mercantile Gazette,” and will certainly acquire a large circulation of its own, it deserves the attention of general advertisers. 11. T. WHEELER, Stafford-streefc, Dunedin.
