RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Monday, August 12. (Before T. A. Hansford, Esq., R.M.) DRUNKENNESS. One man for drunkenness was fined 55,, with the usual alternative of twenty-tour hours' imprisonment. ASSAULT. John Boyd was charged, on the information of Simon Eraser, with assaulting him by beating him on the head with a walking stick. Complainant deposed that the defendant came to his house and told him not to throw water about his (complainant’s) yard, as it flowed on to defendant’s premises. Witness ordered him off the premises, when defendant committed the assault complained of. Defendant stated that he called at the complainant’s house and complained about the water ruuning on to his (defendant’s) property. Complainant ordered him away, ms.de use of strong language, and caught him by the collar of the coat. Defendant then used the stick, but never intended to strike complainant on the head, but merely on tho wrist. His Worship fined defendant 20s. and costs, or in default seven days’ imprisonment.
