Melbouune. A verdict for the defendant was given in the action for libel against the proprietors of the Trades’ Protection Circular. The Loch Avd concert added £4OO to the funds. The amateur Blondin, Henry Ruffin, was killed by a fall from a wire stretched from the roofs of houses across Malop-street, Geelong. Melita is still the favorite for the Cup. J. L. Hall is appearing in “ Our Dad” with success. Sydney. £2500 has been subscribed to the Mort memorial. Messrs, Goldsworthy’s store at Newcastle has been burnt down. Adelaide. No more bodies belonging to the James Service have been found. The brig Ella Gladstone has been condemned. Mr. Hyndman, the City Surveyor, is dead. A man named Boyd has been seriously injured by his wife pouring kerosine over him and lighting it. Mr. Patrick Grey, draper, Hotbam, has committed suicide.
