The steamer Jane Douglas, from Foxton, arrived here early yesterday morning. The steamer Tui leaves for Waitara to-day. The stearae- Jane Douglas Maves to-day for Wanganui, as the Stormbird and Mvdiwatn were not able to leave Wanganui as early as anticip ited. The steamer Waaaka is due here this morning from tho Manukau. via Nelson. She returns to Manukau again the same day. ‘ The Rotorua, Captain C irey, cleared Sydney Heads at 10.13 p.m. on the 31st, passed t o Three Kings at a a.m. on the 3th, ami arrived at the Bay of Islands at 3 p.m. same day; coaled, and proceeded at 10 30 same night, arriving at Auckland at 12.45 p.m. on the Gth; proceeded same day at 10.30 p.m., and anchored in Hawke's Cay at 3 a.m. on the Bth; discharged 120 tons cargo, and sailed at 3.15 p,m., arriving here nt 9.30 yesterdav morning. Encountered a series of strong easterly gales and high sea for two day after leaving .Sydney, ami the remainder of the passage wedely widds and confused sea; had fine weather down the coast. We have to thank Mr. Pringle, purser, for tiles. The Rowrua aaile l again for the South during the evening. Messrs. McMcckan and Blackwood’s fine steamer Albion arrived at the wharf at midday yesterday. The following is her report Left Melbourne at 2 p.ra. on the 31st. cleared the Heads at 0.45 p.m.. an t passed Swan Island at 0.30 pm. on the Ist. Experienced heavy gale from the S.W., with frequent squalls of hail and snow and tremendous sea; shipped large quantities of water, and had her topsail blown away. She passed the Solandersat 5 p.m. on the sth, slowed the engines all night, and arrived at the Bluff at 7 a.m. on the 6th; left at 4.30 p.m. same day, and arrived at Port Chalmers at 7 a.m. on the 7th ; l?ft at 5 p.m., and arrived at Lyttelton at 11.45 a.m. on the Bth; left at 0 30 p.m.. and arrived at Wellington as above. We are indebted to Mr. Gibbons, pur-er, for files. Tho Albion returns to Melbourne and Hobarton, via the youth, to-morrow. NOTICE TO MARINERS. Tho following notice to mariners has been issued by the Department of Trade and Customs. Melbourne " Mariners are hereby informed that, on and after the Ist of July next, the Aurora Fog-horn will be sounded alternately with the gong every ten (10) minutes, during fogs in Hobson's.
