Tui. from Lyttelton and Kaikouraj arrived !n hatbor at 7- 30 yesterday morning. She experienced strong N.W, winds across. The steamer Maori, from the Manakau, arrived alongside the wharf at '7 o'clock yesterday morning. She left Nekon on Monday at 4.15 p.m., and encountered a strong N.W, gale with heavy beam sea. The steamer Southern Cross, from Auckland and Napier, arrived in harbor late on Monday nfght. She reports leaving Port Chalmers at 3-45 p.ra.,on Saturday, and arrived at Akaroa at 19 a.m. on Sunday ; left at 19.30 a.m., and experienced a strong N.E. gale, with heavy soa, till arrival at Lyttelton at 4p m. same day; left at 5 p.m. on Monday, and had moderate N.W. and head sea till arrival os above. She sails for Auckland, via the East Coast, to-day. The steamer Southern Cross is advertised to sail for Napier on Friday. The brigantine Hannah Broomfield, from Kaipara, arrived in harbor at 7.o'clock yesterday morning. She left Kaipara lost Sunday, and experienced strong W. and N.W. winds till arrival. She will commence discharging to-day. The barque Australlnd, another of Captain Wiliams’colliers. arrived in harbor yesterday afternoon. On thifoccaslon she has made rather a long passage, caused by adverse weather. She left Newcastle on the 18th instant, with light variable weather, which continued until making this coast, when she encountered a succession of strong W. and N.W. gales, accompinied with hail and sleet. She will commence discharging to-day. The topsail schooner Thames, from Pelonu Sound, arrived In harbor yesterday evening. She left yesterday morning, and experienced strong southerly winds across. Captain Gillard reports the brigantine Isabella from nonce as having arrived at the Sound, Tbo steamer Go-Ahead left shortly after midnight for Napier and Castlepoint. A man on board the hulk Albion had a very narrow escape from being killed last night. It appears that he was going forward for a bucket of water. The hatches of the hold were off, but in the darkness the man thought lhat they were on, and consequently walked over the combings of the hatchway and fell to the bottom of the hold, a distance of about eighteen feet. We were unable last nfght to learn the extent, of the Injuries ho sustained. The unfortunate Is brother-in-law to the hulk-keeper. The steamer Napier, from Blenheim, arrived ab Hid wharf at midnight. She crossed.the Blenheim ban* ah 6.30 p-tn,, and experienced westerly weather across. She leaves for Blenheim at 9 o’clock to-night.
