RESIDENT MAGISTRATE’S COURT.
Feidat, July 26. (Before T. A. Hansford, Esq., E.M.); DBUNKBNITESS. Two inebriates, a mart and a woman, were both fined 15a., or 48 hours’ imprisonment, for being drunk and incapable in the public streets. ' ' ALLEGED EOECEHY. Jacob Hebberley, on remand, was charged with forging his father’s name to an order for the payment of £lO. Mr. Fitz Gerald appeared for the prisoner. W. Taylor, merchant, deposed that he was agent for James Hebberley, of X’ieton. Last ■ Saturday prisoner presented au order for £lO, purporting to bo drawn on his father, James Hebberley. Prisoner on being asked if the signature was his father’s said it was. Witness paid prisoner £lO by a cheque on the Union Bank. On the following Monday witness received a telegram from Hebberley senior, Instructing him not to pay the prisoner any • moneys, as there was no authority for ;so doing. Witness then gave information to the police, . ! James Hebberley, the prisoner’s father, deposed that ho had given his son no authority to draw any money from Mr. Taylor, the last witness. ; ' Prisoner reserved his defence, and was cora- * mitted for trial. Bail was allowed, prisoner to enter into his own recognisance of £SO, and two sureties of £25 each.
