NATIVE LAND ACT AMENDMENT BILL.

Tho following Bill was passed through all its stages in both Houses of Parliament yesterday : Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Tgow Zealand in Parliament assembled, and by ; the authority of the same, as follow's: —• _ 1. Tho short title of this Act shall bo the Native Land Act Amendment Act, 1878,'and it shall be read and deemed to be incorporated with the aforesaid Act. ■ T , : 2. Tho Native Land Court or any Judge thereof shall have, and shall be deemed to have had from the date of the passing of the aforesaid Act, the same power of summoning and compelling the attendance of witnesses and the production of documents, and of punishing persons who may hereafter be duly summoned for non-attendance, or for refusing to give evidence qr produce documents, and ■ the same means of enforcing tho observance q£ . its orders and rulqs, as is or may be possessed ■ • by tko Supreme Court or any Judgo thereof. 3. r Notwithstanding anything contained in ' tho Native Land Act, 1573, the Native Land Court, or the presiding Judge ,at any sitting thereof, may from time to time allow counsel or agents to appear for either party in a case, and to conduct such case on behalf of such party.
