Sperm candles have slightly advanced, and are quoted at 9Jd per. lb. Owing to the uneasy feeling existing in the mind of the public respecting kerosene, the price of quality guaranteed up to standard, test lias gone up to Is lid to 2s per gallon. In colonial produce there is no change. Butter, if prime, is in better demand, but we note no rise in valu*, and quote 9d to lOd per lb for good samples ; questionable cure ranks from 2d to 5d per lb. Hams and bacon continue dull, new cure being in small demand, at 04d toSd per lb. Cheese overstocked, and quoted at Old to 7d. Flour unchanged from last week’s rates, stocks of Canterbury and Oamaru being ample, prices apparently tending somewhat downward. Oats are in fair demand, and firm for prime milling sorts at 4< Gd per bushel. At auction yesterday a shipment was sold for Mr. E. Pearce at 4s 3d for oats and 4s Id for chickwheat. Mr. Bnckland reports:—Dairy cows, £lolos to £l3; medium, £0 to £3; yearling steers, £*2 2s Od to £3 15s; eighteen months to two-year-olds, £4 5s to £5 10s ; two years .and a half, £0 17s od. Fat stock of all kinds have considerably advanced in price, from 25s to 32s per’lOOlbs. Sheep for stores are dull of sale, particularly ewes ; fat sheep are better in value to the extent of about a halfpenny per lb, and prices range from 3d to 34d. Mr. Blnney states that the flour market is unsettled, owing to a Christchurch firm having representatives here offering flour to bakers at £l2, three months’ credit. The bran and pollard market is very bare at £6 IDs ; oatmeal is in demand at £2l; barley, £32; oats, 4s Gd ; Fiji maize, 4s 7d ; good butter, lOd; cheese, 7<l; potatoes, £4.

CHRISTCHURCH, Friday. The produce market has been very dull during the past week, and prices have steadily declined. Wheat is still held heavily by many who bought speculating on a war value, and they are now anxious to push sales at prices which leavea great loss. Wiieatis stagnant at 3slid to 4s 2d: oats are quiet at 2s 7d to 3s lid : barley, 5s to 5s 3d; very superior, 5s Gd; ryegrass seed, good, 6s; potatoes, 50s to 655. ; These are Christchurch prices, not f.o.b. '
