BRUTAL MURDER IN QUEENSLAND.

Early on tho'morning of the 27th May, say s an exchange, the body of a man unknown wa s found murdered at a place-known as Brerfhauer's Saw Mill,” about thirty miles on the Springsure side of Tambo. There appears to be some doubt as to who first discovered the body, but we are informed that the first intimation of the affair was given by the driver of Cobb's coacb, which left Tambo at 0 o’clock on that morning, and passed the scene of murder about 11 a.m, The body was found lying close to a fire, evidently made by the victim for his night’s camp. ■ Has boots were off, but he was not undressed, and appeared to have just lain down after having had his supper—for a smoko. His watch was on his belt, which would lead to the belief that plunder was not the object of the murder. His two horses and a riding saddle were gone, and his pack saddle was left. From this it would appear as the act of some swagrriau travelling in light marching order, and who “ stood not upon the order of his going.” ' Tracks of a barefooted man were all round the fire, and a piece of scantling had been carried from the sawmill, and had been trimmed'off at due end so as to form a sort of grasp for the hands. Blood and hair wore visible on the edges of the scantling, and several blows had been given. When our informant visited the body, everything was untouched, and it had beeu watched the night through by same members of a road party, who are camped at or near the Hive Hotel, some eight miles from the spot.. The body will doubtless be brought there for inquest, as soon as the police make up their minds that they ought to do' something in the ; matter. The body has been identified as that of a man named Charles Andrews, formerly in the employ of P. P. Macdonald, at Penilces , station, on the Hogoa, and employed by Mr. i JN'iyett, of the same place. ,He bore the repu- ' taticu of being a sober, well-conducted man, and one not likely to have made any enemies.
