Arrived : Spirit of the Dawn, from London, with general cargo, valued at £26,200. 104 days from port to port, and 95 from and to land. She brings no pas- • sengers. On the 2nd May the after hatch and side of the gig were stove in. LYTTELTON, May 27. Cleared: Cicero, barque, for the United Kingdom. She takes a full cargo of wheat. &c. Jnne 1. The barque Malacca has sailed for London with a cargo of wool, wheat, and meats. June 3. The ketch Margaret, which left here seven weeks'* ago for the Amuri Bluff, returned to port yesterday. She was driven off the land, and experienced a succession of gales. The crew endured much privation. The allowance of food was reduced to two potatoes and an egg-cup full of water each for ten days. For five days they were without food or water. On Saturday the schooner Cora, of Dunedin, gave them provisions, and on Sunday the Spray, schooner, sighted them. Captain Raster stood by tho ketch all night, and towed her into harbor, as above. The Margaret is not damaged at all. The only loss she sustained was that of her hcadsaiL June 4. Cleared : Trevelyan, for the United Kingdom, with a full cargo of wheat, value £12,800. Western Monarch, for London, with a cargo of wheat, value £18,145, and three passengers. June 10. Arrived : Duke of Argyle, ship, from London. Sailed : N.Z.S. Company’s ship Waikato, with a cargo of wheat, wool, aud tallow, etc., value £OO,OOO, and 37 passengers. She sails to-morrow. TIMARU, Jnne3. Sailed : The barque Mendoza, yesterday, for London, with a cargo of wheat, wool, and Hour, valued at £0353. The Herald to-day comments favorably on the quick dispatch, occupying nino working days only. PORT CHALMERS, May 26. Arrived : Ship Elcctra, from London, last night, after a passage of 130 davs. She encountered terrific gales on leaving the English Channel, and lost a spar, anchor, and sails. While crossing the Southern Ocean she also met a terrific gale from S.W. to N. W The sea broke on board, filled tho docks, stove in the bulwarks, and did other damage.- Several sails were blown, away. She brings S passengers and 800 tons of cargo. June 10. Sailed : H.M.S. Nympho, for Auckland Islands. Juno IS. Arrived : J. A. Brown, 118 days from Boston. Shortly after leaving she encountered heavy easterly gales, and threw overboard 15,000 slates. She experienced a succession of heavy gales and sea during tho passage. She brings 770 tons cargo, dead weight and measurement. BLUFF, Juno 23. Arrived; Swallow, from Newcastle, with a cargo of coal. She experienced a violent gale before making the land, and carried away her long boat and bulwarks. One seaman was lost. Tho tarpaulins were torn off the hatches, and the salt water getting into tho fresh rendered it useless, and the crew experienced great privations for the last five days through want of water. The cargo from the wreck of tho Ann Gambles is being landed successfully. June 11. Tho barque J. A. Brown, 111 days from Boston to Dunedin, is at anchor at Ruapuke, windbound. AU well on .board. The American barque Sophia R. Luhrs proceeded to Auckland cn the afternoon of May 30. The barque Rialto got under way In charge of pilot Sims at 9.30 a.m, on May 30, bound for London, and cleared the Heads with a fair wind two hours afterwards. The barque Canmore broke ground on Friday, Juno 7th, and loft with a fine whole-sail breeze for Valparaiso. The ship Leucadia, for Newcastle, got under way on Friday, June 7th. The New Zealand Shipping Company’s ship Waikato, Captain Worstcr, cleared the Customs for Loudon on Saturday night, with a full and valuable cargo and 37 passengers. The Waikato was towed out into the stream by the p.s. Titan yesterday afternoon, and proceeded to sea on the arrival of tho 9 a.m. train from Christchurch on Monday morning.— Lyttelton Times, June 10. The Lyttelton Times of tho Cth inst. says :— ** Tho ships Trevelyan and Western Monarch cleared tho Customs yesterday. The Trevelyan has a full cargo cf wheat valued at £12,813. This ship will call at cither Cork or Falmouth for orders as to her final port of destination. She will be towed out into tho stream to-day, and probably proceed to sea. The Western Monarch cleared for London direct with a cargo of wheat and a few bales of wool, representing a total value of £13,144. Of this amount, wheat to tho value of £5240 was shipped in Dunedin. The ship also takes three saloon passengers. The Monarch is now ready for sea, and an early hour will see her departure. DISASTER TO THE CRAIGIE LEE. A telegram was received on Saturday by Messrs. Levin and Co., the agents for Messrs. Shaw, SaviU, and Co. in this city, from Captain Winther, of tho barque Craigie Lee, informing them that he had put into Geraldon (Champion Bay, Western Australia), through loss of his topmasts, sails, yards, and bulwarks. Messrs. Bethune and Hunter, Lloyd's agents, have also received the following telegram: — “ The Craigle Lee has put in hero witu loss of topmast, sails, and bulwarks. Her cargo is much damaged. The repairs to enable her to proceed will take two months.— Geo. Shenton, Lloyd’s agent, Freemantle, 25th." The Craigie Lee is bound from London to this port, under charter to Messrs. Shaw, SaviU, and Co., aud left there on tho Cth February, consequently she was fully due here, and was expected to show up every day until the telegrams were received announcing her detention. She is a Dublin vessel, owned by Mi*. W. O. McCormack, and is 622 tons register.
