Some account of the original Belleisle, from which the frigate just purchased from the Turkish Government takes its name, will be of interest.* The original Belleisle was a Trench* built line-of-battle ship of 74 guns on two decks, and was taken as a prize, with the two Spanish three-deckers and several others, in Admiral Jervis’s action off Capo St. 'Vincent. She was a fine roomy vessel, and the quarantine establishment at Stangate Creek requiring a new ship to supply the place of one of the old lazarettos, no longer fit for service; the Trench man-of-war prize was handed over to the Board of Customs, taken into Sheerness Dockyard, fitted as a lazaretto, and in a short i time supplied the place of the one previously removed. The Admiralty of that day, however, directed a line-of-battle ship, to be named the Belleisle, of 74 guns, to be constructed on the lines of the old Trench ship, and so well : did the draughtsmen of that day do thair ; work that when the first English-built Belleiale was launched she was a perfect and complete model in every respect of the original; and whilst the English 74 was sharing in the glories of Trafalgar, the original Trench 74. was quietly swinging at her moorings as a larazetto in Stangate Creek, where she continued until, . worn out and rotten, she was taken back to Sheerness Dockyard aud broken up. When Doctors differ, who shall decide ? has often bion asked, without a satisfactory solution of the question ; but that difficulty is now removed, for linquestionably “GiiollauV Great Indian Cures are the most certain and unfailing medicines for the“thousand ills : that flesh is heir to " that have yet been discovered. The testimonials given from old and respected Colonists will convince the most sceptical of the truth of the assertion. They can bo had of all Chemists, as also these invaluable medicines.
