Edwin. - The steamer Taupo, from Fort Chalmers and Lyttelton, Is due here this morning. It should be some time now before another coal famiuetakesplacein Wellington. Three colliers arrived frrom Newcastle yesterday, all coal-laden, bringing between them 1800 tons. Several others will shortly arrive, so that tho supply in all probability will be equal to the demand—at any rate for some time to come. Tho steamer Wanaka left Russell at 7.30 p.m. on tho 11th instant, and arrived at Auckland the next morning at 8.15; sailed at 5.15 p.m. on the 13th, and arrived at Tauraoga at 0.30 a,m, next day ; proceeded at 9.30 a.m., and anchored in Poverty Bay at 0.30 a.m. on the 15th ; left at 5 pm., and anchored in Hawke's Bay on Sunday at 6.30 a m„ sailed again at 2 30 p.m., and arrived at 11 o’clock yesterday. Experienced variable winds and rainy weather from the Bay of Islands to Napier, thence to arrival light westerly winds. The Wanaka sailed again for the Mouth shortly after 3 o'clock in the afternoon. The barque New Brunswick, coal-laden, left Newcastle on the sth Instant it noon, with squally weather and strong southerly winds. This weather to a great extent was experienced until three days before making tho land. Sighted Capo Farewell on Sunday morning, blowing hard from tho north; passed St Stephens Head at 3 p.m., arrived at Wellington Heads on Sunday night at 9 p.m., and sailed in early yesterday morning. Passed the barque Frederick Basil on the 14th, bound west. Tho New Brunswick is moored alongside tho hulk European, Into which she will discharge her coals. Tho schooner Julius Vogel, from Kaipara, arrived In harbor early yesterday morning. She left on Friday, and experienced northerly weather on the trip. Passed the schooner Maud Graham going up the river. The schooner Hannah Bloomfield wa? loading at Kaipara when the Vogel left. Tho brig Raymond, from Newcastle, hauled in to tho wharf yesterday morning. She arrived In harbor on Sunday night, and anchored until daylight. The brig left Newcastle on 31st May with a light northerly breeze. Her passage was characterised by light and variable winds until making tho land, when a strong northerly wind, with thick weather, was experienced. The brig Neptune, also from Newcastle, arrived In harbor yesterday morning. She was more fortunate than the Raymond, and made a quicker passage by two days. She left on the 2nd Instant, and experienced light winds until sighting this coast, when the n/imc weather was experienced a a the above-named vessel. The schooner Marmion, timber-laden, from Kaipara, arrived yesterday morning early, and berthed alongside the Sarah Pile. Light northerly winds wore experienced along tho coast. She will commence discharging to-day. Tho schooner Sarah Pile was busy taking in ballast yesterday. She will probably leave early this morning for Kaipara. 4-hc Elizabeth Curie will sail this morning for Havelock. . The topsail schooner Endeavor, from Oamaru armed in port early yesterday morning. She experienced light and.variable winds along tho coast. She hauled in to Piirnmer's wharf, and will commence dl» charging Jjor cargo of grain to day. Considerable inconvenience is occasioned through there being no mooring posts at what may bo termed the approach to the wharf. Small steamers and coasters ure continualiy berthed there, and-it Is with great cUineulty that their lines are made fast.
The Young Dick, from Hobarton, broke bulk yesterday morning. * There was a more than usual stir and bustle on the wharf yesterday, occasioned by the number of steamers that were landing and discharging their cargoes. There has not been so many departures amongst the coasting steamers for some months. Notwithstanding, however, the limited accommodation at the wharf, they wore all despatched according to their advertised time. The following are the names of the steamers that took their departure Wellington, for Picton and Nelson ; Claud Hamilton, for Melbourne via the South ; Stormbird, for Wanganui; Jane Douglas, for Foxton ; Tui, for Kalkoura; Raugatira, for Napier; Wacaka and Star of the South, for the South. The barque Pleiades hauled away from the wharf yesterday afternoon, and made a start for Newcastle. Shortly before dusk, however, wha ever little wind there was came up from the southward, whith necessitated the Pleiades bringing up for the night. Probably she will got clear of the Heads after daylight sets In. A topsail schooner was signalled yesterday afternoon. During the night she came into harbor. Probably she may be the Hannah Bloomfield, with timber.
