SPECIAL TELEGRAM. [The following telegram was received at the New Zealand Times office at half-past three o'clock this morning]:— London, June 8. The stock market is buoyant, stocks meat in favor being Egyptian,.Turkish, and Hungarian. Consols are now quoted at 96 ex dividend. The market for Australian securities remarkably firm ; healthy prices, without noticeable alteration. Corn market quiet; the May trade returns are unfavorable. The first innings of the eleven closed for 29 ; the second innings of the Australians closed for 85. The money market is unchanged. The Bank reserve has been weakened by gold going to Paris for Bourse settlements. : (REUTER'S SPECIAL 'lO PRESS AGENOV.J Berlin, June 6 th. The socialist, conspiracy is found to be very widespread. Many arrests are being made, and severe repression is advocated, it being even suggested that the European Congress should deal with the question. An Imperial decree has been issued, tantamount to conferring a temporary Regency on the Crown Prince. St. Petersburg, June 6th. The semi-official Press here appear hopeful of the result of the European Congress, j London,' June 7th. The Chancellor of the Exchequer, in reply to a question, said that the British plenipotentiaries at the Congress will be instructed by the Cabinet, who will decide all questions on their collective responsibility, and that nothing will be submitted to Parliament until the conclusion of the Congress. Mr. Layard, the British Ambassador at Constantinople, has been created a Civil Knight Grand Cross of the Bath. It is stated here that on account of the salubrity of Prince’s Island the British squadron in the Sea of Marmora will be stationed there. Washington, June 6th. Both Houses of Congress have passed a Bill against any further contraction of the issue of greenbacks. SPECIAL TELEGRAM. London, June 7 th. The race for the Oaks took place til-day, Jeannette first. The two survivors from.the wreck of the' Loch Ard are rapidly recovering. Sydney, Saturday. Arrived : Wolverene.; l Cuzco, at Adelaide. Subscriptions are, being raised to give a testimonial to Mr. Pearce, the survivor of the Loch Ard, for his gallantry in saving the life of Miss Carmichael.
