"White and black .are alone to appear in’ the future in the pjumes .which Court-regulations decree shall’bel worn. • ...; Modern Court dress for ladies is already ex-' tremely trying.; A costume suitable for evening gatherings is inappropriate l for: afternoon 1 assemblages.' The uniform, and Court dress worn by gentlemen is appropriate in, any hour of the day ; but the. dresses in which ladies, appear at ‘ Court are singularly unsuited for morning hours.' Court dresses of any degree 1 of gorgeousnoss could perfectly well be invented 1 which'should yet be suitable' to daylight hours and to the conditions of long waiting to , pwhioh ladies are exposed on their way to pay respects to the Quesm .
