ASSAULT.' , ; Heinrich Jacobsen was charged, on an adjourned summons, with having committed an assault on Andrew Neilsen. Mr. Gordon Allan appeared for the complainant, and Mr. Buckley for the defendant. A number of additional witnesses were examined, and the testimony was of a most conflicting character —three witnesses deposing that the defendant was at one end of the city at the time of the alleged assault, and another swearing most positively that he saw him in the bar of Barrett's Hotel. -The counsel on both sides having addressed the Court, His Worship remarked upon the strange conflict of evidence, and dismissed the case ; each party to pay his own costs. MUNICIPAL CORPORATIONS ACT. Thomas Munt, for driving without a light on the right side of his vehicle, was fined Is., and costs. Thomas Crowther, who was represented by Mr. Andrews, his employer, was charged with driving without lights. A fine of Is., and costs, was imposed. Walter Best was fined Is., and costs, for a similar offence. ’ ' Henry Boon was charged with driving round the corner.of .Ghuznee,and Willis streets at other than a walking pace. A flue of 55., and costs, was imposed., MALICIOUS DAMAGE. A case, brought by Mrs. Chidsey against Frank Desmond for malicious , damage to property, was adjourned until Friday next.
