WELLINGTON CITY COUNCIL.
The following is the business on the order paper for to-day —Report on the removal of nightaoil, Wharf Committee’s report, Public Works Committee’s report, tenders for cement, tenders for road metal, water rate to be struck, granting permission, for erection of steam boiler chimney shafts, proposed municipal league, accounts. NOTICES OF MOTION. Councillor Allan to move—That at all meetings of the City Council each member present be supplied with a copy of the Municipal Corporations Act of 1870, with the Amendment of 1877, for reference. ’ Councillor Diver to move—That Mr. Clark's drainage scheme be adopted, and that immediate steps be taken for giving effect to the same. - Councillor Fisher to move—That a committee consisting of hia Worship the Mayor, Councillors George, Logan, and the. mover, bo appointed to confer with the Wellington Volunteer Fire Brigade, and report on the subject referred to iu the letter of the brigade dated the 22nd April, 1878, Councillor Fiheer to move—That live acres of that portion of the Eastern Town Belt at present leased to Mr. Sutherland be resumed and applied to the purSoses of a recreation ground for the use of the inabitants of the city... Councillor Fisher to move-That Reserve B, Mount Victoria District, bo fenced and planted in accordance with the purposes for which the reserve was sot apart. . w . Councillor Macdonald to move—That the report of the To Aro Reclamation Committee adopted by tho Council on the 4th day of April last be hereby rescinded, and that the City Solicitor be requested to incorporate in the Te Aro Reclamation Bill he is now drafting (to lay before the General Assembly.next session) a clause to the effect that the rights of all parties whose lands’ abut on or have frontage to the .harbor of Port Nicholson shall be ■ ascertained and dealt with iu the wanner provided for by parts 2 and 8 of the Public Works Act, 1870, and (hat if any of such parlies, shall bo fouiultabo entitled to compcnsation, the amount of such shall bo paid by the Council either in reclamation land adjacent to their property or in cash, as the Council may elect. ;• .The following is'the report of the Public Works Committee:—The. coranilttee beg to recommend as under—l. That the present arrangement of boundaries as between Mr, KriilFe property and Boulcott-

That the arrange meut as between the Corporation and the \V nlliugfeon Gas Company, in reference to the Te Aro foreshore, be held in abeyance for the present. 3. Inafc no anp'ication for the formation of new streets, courts, or alleys be entertained unless plans of the proposed street, court, or alley, prepared by improperly licensed surveyor, bo submitted to the Council, 4. ihat Turn-bull-street be Icerbed and channelled, Ihe committee beg further to report —5. That, subject to the regulations of the Council, they have granted permission for the formation of new streets through town sections 403, 404, 405, and 406, to be named Moeller-street, Shannon-street, and Kcnnedystreet, on the application of Thompson, Shannon, and Co. 0. That they have granted, subject to the same regulations, permission to Charles O’Neill, C'E., cn behalf of George Hunter, for a deviation of Dixonstreet. 7. That, subject to the same regulations, they have granted to G. H. Bayliss permission for the formation of a new street through town sections 1084, 1086,1083,1000, and 1092, to be named street. 8„ That they have iecreased the salary of the custodian of the nightsoil depot £1 per week for the remainder of the contract, on certain conditions securing an immunity from any annoyance from the escape of noxious odours. 9. That the question of permitting the erection of brick works on part of Town Belt Reserve No. IS, has been remitted to be dealt with by the Council.- J. Dkansfiklu, chairman.
