CITY COUNCIL.
Thursday, Mat 23. A special meeting of the City Council was held yesterday afternoon in the Council Chambers. Present—His Worship the Mayor and Councillors Diver, Magiuity, Dixon, Logan, George, Allen, Allan, and Fisher. The Mayor said that the present meeting was a special one called to consider the standing orders. Before proceeding with that business ho would mention to tho Council that the: Clerk .had received a letter from Mr. Pharazyn which was of a very important nature. He wished tho letter to ho read with his (the Mayor’s) answer. At the same time, no discussion would take place. 'The letters will bo found elsewhere. Mr. Graham, the town clerk, then read a copy of the standing orders, which were compiled by himself under instructions from the Council. 'The whole of the- clauses were passed with very few exceptions, and ordered to ho printed by tho next meeting of the Council. 1 This was all the business.
