The perforthance’atithe'Theatre Uoyallait night was fori the benefit of tbo.clever and popular actor, Mr. Walton, and wo were glad to see such a good house as welcomed him'oh' this occasion. Tho piece chosen was Boucioault’s Irish drama, “ Tho Shanghraun.” Mr. Walton snstained'the part of Conn, and from the first time ho made his appearance on tho stage until the drop of the. curtain he fairly, carried the audience with : hlm. He depicted 1 the good-hearted and faithful young Irish peasant in,a most faithful manner. Mrs. O’Kelly, Conn's .mother, was impersonated by Mrs Pitzwilliam. The character is one in which a good i deal of Celtic humour, can be displayed, and in this particular Mrs. FitzwilUahv.,was most successful. Clare Ffolliott was playedjby Miss Lawrence in a very pi easing-. maria eia The lady who took the part-of Ante O’Neil; was rather imperfect in her' parti and,-, the prompter’s voice was on several occasions heard. Mr. St. Lawrence, as OaptainJMoli-. neaux, both acted and looked, the part. Moya Doolan was allotted to Miss Marion Willis, who- came in for a; large share .of-Applause. Tho rest of the characters' were creditably performed by the remainder of the company. To-night the piece will be repeated. ) •
