THEATRE ROYAL.
Considering tho strong counter-attraction, tho Theatre Royal was fairly patronised last night. The sensational drama of the “ Courier of Lyons” was reproduced, and afforded a evening's amusement. _ The play, all through is full of. stirring incidents,’ and the audience are kept in eager suspense from one act to the other. Mr. AValtun sustained double . characters, and played both iu a most satis-, factory manner., Mr. Stoneham as Choppard, a horsedealer, acted in his usual painstaking manner.' So also did Mr. Wilsou. Miss Marion 'Willis ns an outcast was particularly good. At the close of the third act she was .loudly applauded when she endeavors to secure Durose, a criminal, while in the act of escaping through window. Miss St. Laurence took the .part of Julie Leaurgues, and acted it very nicely. Mrs. Hesford was most happy in her character of the postmaster’s daughter, and came in for a fair share of .applause. „The performance was certainly one of the best we have seen here for some, timo. It was wellmounted, and no hitch of any sort occurred to mar its success,
