WASTE LANDS BOARD.
The Board mot yesterday. Present—The Chairman and Messrs. Mason and Bunny. The Chairman submitted a schedule oil the sections in the Okotuku Block to bo offered for sale by public auction. A discussion ensued as to whether volunteer certificates could bo exercised in payment for sections belonging to the Patea Harbor Board, and further consideration of the matter was adjourned to the 9th May. It was resolved that 64 surveyed sections of rural land, which were not sold on the 23rd ult., should bo thrown open for purchase on application on and after Tuesday, 11th June, at the Crown Lands office, Wellington, at £1 per acre. Mr. Brunner reported that he had visited sections 9 and 82, Mauricovillo, and found that ten acres of land had been cleared and grassed on each section, but no house had been erected. If was resolved that a house must bo erected on each section before tho
balance of the purchase money could be received. The issue of grants under the Immigrants Land Act, 1873, was considered. It was agreed to issue grants to John Harris and Charles Oullum. In tho case of Wm. Henderson a grant was refused by the Board. A plan was submitted of a block of Crown lands adjoining Bitzherbert township, Manawatu. It was agreed that the unsurveyed laud in the Bitzherbert Block, as shown on the map, he surveyed as soon as possible into sections, varying from 50 to 200 acres eaob, as might be found most desirable, having regard to the best lines of road and the general features of the land.
