(PER PRESS AGENCY.) . - r Auckland, Friday. The Governor met with an enthusiastic reception on his arrival at Hokianga., He was entertained at luncheon by the principal residents. The Telegraphist and two French vessels fired a salute of 21 guns. All the vessels were decorated, and there was a splendid display of fireworks. The Governor has gone to the Heads, to Webster’s place. The Jockey Club have disqualified McGee, senior, from running horses on the Auckland turf. McGee, junior, the jockey, has been suspended for twelve months, for alleged pulling of Falcon in the Selling Race. The resolution is to bo forwarded to the Southern clubs, Wanganui, Friday.
Honry Fisher and Walter Coker, storekeepers, Palmerston, charged with conspiracy to defraud their creditors, were tried at the Supreme Court. The case lasted: two days, and the jury returned a verdict of guilty on all counts. Sentence, was deferred till Saturday. ■ • Alexandra, Friday.
Several, canoe loads of flour, sugar, etc.,! have gone up to Hikurangi to-day. A largo number of natives are assembled at the falls here. The Lower Waikato natives are expected to-morrow in four war canoes. It is doubtful'; if Kewi will be present at the meeting unless Wahanui consents to attend.; If so the Ngatimauiapoto will have a meeting with Sir George Grey after Tawhiao’s meeting. Sir George Grey is expected here on Monday, The meeting will be a large one. 1 Blenheim, Friday.

At a meeting of the Ctutha County Council to-day, a letter was read from the Minister for Public Works, that the Government j had agreed to the recommendation of the Council to make Kelso the t ermination of the WaipihiTapunui railway, and had given instructions to carry out the work.
Dunedin, Friday. At the Police Court to-day Alexander H. Logan, son of Mr. John Logap, J.P., brother-in-law of Mr. Stout, Attorney-Genera], was charged by J. G. S. Grant with an assault in connection with : the horsewhipping case on Easter Monday. The magistrate said if he did abstract justice he would dismiss the case, but administering the law he would find Mr. Logan guilty, and fine him 55., with costs. Oamaku, Friday. The residence of Mr. James Dumi, in Urestreet, was destroyed by fire at 2 o’clock this morning. Mrs. 33nun and two children had a narrow escape of losing their lives. The building and furniture were insured for j£loo in the South British. The tire is supposed to have originated in the kitchen. The Qamaru and JNaseby. Railway Committee had a meeting to-day, wh|n it was decided to urge upon the Government to extend the Waireka railway as far as the township of Livingstone, a distance of twelve miles. It is also intended to try to form a company for constructing a line from Dnutroou to Kourow, with the view of 1 tapping the interior portion of North Otago.
