THE WANGANUI MAIL SERVICE.
TO THE EDITOR OE THE NEW ZEALAND lIJIE3. Sib, —I am glad to notice by advertisements and paragraphs in the papers that the Government are endeavoring to secure a daily or triweekly mail service with Wanganui, accomplishing each trip in twelve hours. Ido not presume to say whether the steam service between To x ton and Porirua cau be carried out or not as proposed. But considering the circumstances of the colony I do hope that the most economical mode of carrying out the desired end may be adopted, and that, for the sake of a steamer running from Porirua to I’oxton, and vice versa, no extravagant expenditure may be incurred, particularly if by a reasonable payment an accelerated coach service connecting with the railway at Poxton, the mail service we all desire, can he carried ut. —I am. &c., A Taxpayer.
