She brings 34 saloon and 24 steerage passengers and 460 tons cargo for all ports, she sails at 4 p.m. tor Dunedin. Fas. Bengers for Wellington—Miss Boss, Mesdames t alentine and Clark, Messrs. The barque Carnatic, now loading in part under the anspices of the N.Z.S. Co., it is anticipated will be ready to sail for London about the beginning of next ■month. She has now on board 1200. bales wool, 800 casks tallow, 40 cases tallow, a quantity of meat and sundries, and several hundred tons of car 0 o shipped at Lyttelton. She will be full of passengers. The company have decided to place another vessel on the berth te load here after the Carnatic. She will be the barque Chasca, 633 tons, now dud here from Auckland. She has on board for London, shipped at Auckland, about 200 tons magnesia. The N.Z.S. Co. have received a telegraphic advice of the safe arrival at London of the following ships ; —Dragon, from Napier ; Eangitikei and Bakaia, from lyttelton ; and Waipa, from Tort Chalmers. The s s Tui arrived here at 9 o clock yesterday morning from Foxton, with a cargo of potatoes, hides, skins, and sleepers. She left Foxton at lo’clock the previous night, mid experienced northerly s°Wanaka, from the South, will arrive here tr.-day, and sail again for the North to-morrow at barque Eialto has now on board about.3ooo baS woS bales flax. 000 casks tallow, 300 cases meats, and a quantity of bones, &c., for London. It is anticipated she will sail early next montii. A number of passengers have already booked for Home Luna, with a cargo of coal and coke, arrived here from the West Coast yesterday at 12 o’clock. She left Greymouth at noon on Sunday, and reached Westport at 11 p.m. same day; sailed again _at 2a.m. bn Monday, and arrived here as above stated. Experienced fine weather to Stephen Island, thence to arrival here heavy N. M. I gale and fea. The Xararua, which arrived at the Bluff yesterday from Melbourne and Hobarton, is expected up here 01 The d stcamer Kiwi went round to the Patent Slip yesterday to receive a thorough overhaul. Ihc alter water-tight bulkhead is to be removed forward i several feet, so as to aUow of a passage round the back of the boiler, and all the ballast in her is being shifted and the flooring underneath it coated with tar. Altogether this hard-worked little steamer is to be thoroughly renovated throughout during her stay on the Slip, which will be for about a week. , A •strong N.W. gale, accompanied with thick blinding rain, prevailed in port during the greater part of yesterday, and brought shipping matters almost to’ a standstill.
