WRITTEN TENDERS will be received at this office up to NOON on WEDNESDAY, - the 21th APRIL, 1878, for the SUPPLY and DELIVERY of 10,000 SLEEPERS, to be delivered on the line where required between 39 miles 20 chains'and ii miles 30 chains for the Wellington-Master-ton Railway. They must be addressed to the Hon. the Minister for Public Works, Wellington, and marked outside “ Tender for Sleeper’s, Welliugtoh-Mastertoii Railway.” Specifications may be seen at the Public Works Offices, Foxton, Wanganui, and Wellington, the Railway Manager's Office, Picton, and the Post Office, Featherston. Telegraphic tenders, similarly addressed and marked, will be received if presented at any Telegraph Office by NOON of the same date, provided that written tenders in due form are lodged at a District or Resident Engineer's Office by the same hour, and accompanied by a cheque on some bank in the town where the tender is lodged ; such cheque to be specially marked by a banker as good for one mouth, and to be in favor of the Receiver-General's Deposit Account only, and not to bearer or order. In anticipation of the completion of the line of railway between Wanganui and Foxton, it is proposed to effect a DAILY EXCHANGE OF MAILS BETWEEN WELLINGTON AND WANGANUI by means of a coach service between Wellington and Porirua Harbor, thence to Foxton by steamer. Offers are therefore invited for the performance of a mail steam service, once a day each way, between Porirua Harbor and Foxton, for a period of two years, commencing on or about the 15 th May proxinio. The service to be performed in accordance with a time-table to be furnished from time to time by the Postmaster-General. Particulars of the service may be obtained on applicationat the General Post Office. Tenders, to state the names, tonnage, and horse-power of the vessels to be employed in the service. The lowest or any tender will not necessarily be accepted.
