WASTE LANDS BOARD.
The regular meeting of the Waste Lands Board was held yesterday, there being present —Mr. J. G. Holdswortb, chief commissioner (in the' chair), Messrs. H. Bunny, Mason, W. W. Johnston, and E. Pearce. ; ! The minutes of the previous meeting were read and confirmed. The Chaidman reported that no applications for laud had been received since the last meeting of the Board. Consideration of a letter from the commissioner at Palmerston, deferred from the last meeting, was resumed. It was resolved that a copy of the memorandum submitted by the crown lands commissioner be forwarded to the Hon. the Minister for Lauds, and a hope was expressed that the commissioner might be able to arrange for such an expenditure as might be required for felling the bush on the road line and cutting drains. The Board was of opinion that the amount so expended should be added to the upset price of the land. ; The Board then adjourned.
